Meetings/events (meeting/webinar registration/town hall large one-way/Appointments, meeting policies feature control, meeting templates, meeting customization policies appearance, event settings, Microsoft 365 Copilot meeting settings) and Teams Phone (number provisioning Calling Plan/Operator Connect/Direct Routing, resource accounts, voice/voicemail policies, auto attendants IVR/call queues ordered distribution, calling policies).

4.1Meetings and events

Key points

Understand meeting types (meeting/webinar/town hall/Appointments), meeting policies, meeting templates, meeting customization policies, event settings, and Microsoft 365 Copilot meeting settings.

Choose a meeting type by scale and interactivity. Control features via meeting policies, standard setups via templates, and appearance via customization policies.

4.1.1Meeting and event types

A meeting is a normal two-way meeting. A webinar is a structured event with registration to manage attendees (up to thousands). A town hall is for large-scale one-to-many broadcast (up to tens of thousands, org-wide events). Appointments with Microsoft Teams are scheduled virtual visits (healthcare/consultation). Choose by scale, interactivity, and registration. Distinguish "registered two-way" = webinar from "large one-way broadcast" = town hall.

4.1.2Policies, templates, and customization

Meeting policies control meeting features (recording, transcription, lobby, screen sharing, participant permissions) per user. Meeting templates are blueprints to quickly create meetings with predefined settings (settings can be locked). Meeting customization policies customize the meeting’s appearance (branding, backgrounds, logos). Configure webinars/town halls with event settings/policies, and set the in-meeting Microsoft 365 Copilot AI experience.

Exam point

Cues: "registration, manage attendees, two-way (thousands)" = webinar. "large one-way broadcast (tens of thousands, org-wide)" = town hall. "scheduled virtual visits" = Appointments. "control recording/lobby/screen-share features" = meeting policy. "blueprint with predefined settings" = meeting template. "appearance/branding" = meeting customization policy.

Warning

Watch the mix-ups: (1) Webinar (registration, two-way) vs town hall (large one-way broadcast). (2) Meeting policy (feature control) vs meeting template (predefined blueprint) vs customization policy (appearance). (3) Appointments are scheduled special meetings. (4) Copilot meeting settings enable the AI experience—a different axis.
